Ahoy, fellow One Piece fans! We’ve got some thrilling news that will make your hearts soar like the Going Merry on the Grand Line. Brace yourselves, for One Piece Live Action Season 2 has received a significant update that could potentially elevate the series to even greater heights.
One Piece Live Action Season 2: A New Crew Member Joins the Adventure
Netflix has announced that Joe Tracz, the co-executive producer of the critically acclaimed “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series, will be joining the One Piece Live Action team as a writer, executive producer, and – drumroll, please – a co-showrunner for the upcoming second season.
Tracz is no stranger to adapting beloved series for the screen. In addition to his work on “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” he has also lent his talents to projects like “Dash and Lily” and “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” With such a wealth of experience in bringing cherished stories to life, Tracz is undoubtedly equipped to navigate the vast and imaginative world of One Piece.
Joe Tracz expressed his excitement, stating, “I’ve been lucky to work on big adaptations of several beloved series, and they don’t come bigger or more beloved than One Piece.” Needless to say, he’s ready to embark on this grand adventure with the rest of the crew.
Tracz will be working alongside Matt Owens, the writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner from the first season. Owens welcomed Tracz with open arms, saying, “Joe has brought a wealth of enthusiasm and experience into our second season that will help take One Piece to new heights. We’re incredibly lucky to have him as a co-captain of this ship.”
While Steve Maer, who developed the series alongside Owens and served as a co-showrunner for Season 1, will be stepping back slightly, he will remain involved as an executive producer. This ensures a seamless transition and maintains the creative vision that made Season 1 so successful.
One Piece Live Action Season 2: Setting Sail for the Grand Line
With this dynamic duo at the helm, fans can expect an even more epic voyage in Season 2. Tracz himself expressed his admiration for Oda’s incredible imagination and the live-action team’s work in Season 1, declaring it a “dream and a joy” to join the Going Merry as it enters the Grand Line.
According to sources, Season 2 of One Piece was expected to start filming in June 2024, with a targeted premiere date in 2025. So, while we may have to wait a little longer, the anticipation will undoubtedly be worth it.
