As viewers eagerly await updates on the continuation of this hit series, exciting developments have been revealed regarding the movie adaptation and the potential release of Chainsaw Man Season 2.

The first season of Chainsaw Man aired from October to December 2022, adapting the manga’s first four arcs: Introduction, Bat Devil, Eternity Devil, and Katana Man. Produced by Studio MAPPA, the anime’s stunning animation quality and gripping narrative set a high standard.

Following its conclusion, fans speculated on how the next arcs of the manga would be adapted. While a second season was anticipated, Studio MAPPA had other plans, as announced at Jump Festa 2024.

Chainsaw Man Movie: What We Know So Far

At Jump Festa 2024, Studio MAPPA unveiled that instead of immediately proceeding with a second season, they would adapt the manga’s fifth arc, Bomb Girl, into a movie titled Chainsaw Man Movie – Rearc. A teaser trailer and a promotional image were also released, sparking excitement and curiosity.

The promotional image features Reze, a pivotal character in the Bomb Girl arc, lying in a green field with flowers covering her body. The teaser showcased moments between Reze and Denji, providing glimpses into the dynamic and emotional storyline.

This movie will cover chapters 40 to 52 of the manga, introducing Reze and exploring her complex relationship with Denji. It may also tease the International Assassins arc, which starts in chapter 53, laying the groundwork for Chainsaw Man Season 2.

Thankfully, Chainsaw Man will have a presence at Jump Festa 2025, scheduled for December 21–22, 2024, on the event’s prestigious Red Stage. It is highly anticipated that a new trailer and the movie’s release date will be revealed during this event.

Given this timeline, fans can expect Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Rearc to premiere in Japanese theaters in the first half of 2025.
